Ipsy Review: June!

This past month I approached my husband about trying out an Ipsy bag- a bag of make-up sent to those who subscribe to it, based on a profile they fill out. He agreed, as a trade off for buying make-up in stores; after all, I easily spent 10 dollars a month before this and I enjoyed a special treat just for me. Here’s what I thought of my bag!

June IpsyReview

ColourPop Creme Gel Liner in Swerve (retail price: 5.00) This was handsdown my favorite thing that came in this subscription bag. I’m in love with the clarity of the black gel, plus how easily it applies to my eyes. The color did smudge easily, however I prefer the smudged look and often use it. I honestly would buy this over and over again. Totally recommend! And possibly will be buying it in all the colors.

BioRepublic Skin Care Mask; Cucumber Breeze and Pomegranate Crush (retail: 4.99 each) When I opened up my bag, I was a little disappointed to see these. I have decent skin and never want to use anything in fear it will actually hurt me more than help. I decided to try the Cucumber Breeze on a whim, however, and was so pleasantly surprised. It made my skin feel soft for days following. I’ve yet to try the Pomegranate Crush; I’m saving it for a more important kind of day! I highly recommend these to anyone who wants something for their skin. Also? It’s hilarious to see yourself in the mask.

Crown Brush 3 tone bronzer (retail: 3.60?) When I first opened this, I thought it was meant to be blended together, but as I looked on the interwebz, it appeared that this was a sample product and it was meant to be used as a highlighter, bronzer and blush. Because the sample is on the smaller side, I chose to use it blended together as a blush and it worked fine like that. Personally, I didn’t find that it was all that dark, which I really enjoyed!

Urban Decay Eyeshadow in Lounge(.03oz) (retail: 11.40) I really loved the way this looked when I pulled it out of the bag. It almost was the color of a penny. The color it ended up being on my skin was pretty great too; I loved how it looked like a different shade everytime I applied it. I can see how that may be hard on people who take make-up more seriously than I. However, I adored it. I was so excited to get this in my bag, because I would have never taken the chance to buy it.

Be a Bombshell Cosemetics Pout Potion in Secret (retail: 14.00) When I first saw this lipgloss in my bag, I was really excited because I thought the color was a perfect shade. However, on my lips it comes across as really just a gloss and a tiny change in the color of my lips. I also wasn’t impressed with how long the gloss lasted. I probably won’t be buying this specific formula ever, but I’m still willing to try out others by the company. I may use the gloss for nights out when I would be eating or drinking as it’s pretty easy to reapply, however it’s definitely not the first thing I would grab on purpose.

All in all, I really enjoyed getting this Ipsy bag. The retail price for everything was about 40 dollars, plus the bag-which I love-so it was well worth the ten dollars for the subscription box. I’m getting another month next month, as an exchange for no longer buying make-up in stores, so I’m anxiously awaiting this next one. It’s a fun bag, for sure. Even if the next month is a total bust, simply my favorite products from this one would pay for both months!

Have you ever tried an Ipsy bag?
