“God is Watching Over You”-A Children’s Book Review

We received this book from BookLook Bloggers free of cost in exchange of my honest review. All opinions formed about this book are mine personally. It was not required I write a positive review.

Bug and Monkey love to read books before bed and I am always looking for new sturdy ones that won’t end up ripped in a few days. (Actually, all the kids love to read, which I am so thankful for, but it’s hard to get Doodle to snuggle up and now Princess wants to be like her…growing up is not cool guys.)

A God presence in them is a plus! When we saw God is Watching Over Me, written by P.J. Lyons and illustrated by Tim Warnes, I knew it was one we had to try out for a bedtime read!

My 2 year old and almost 6 year old absolutely have loved this book. God is Watching Over Me is written in a sing song tone, with rhyming words and a sweet rhythm. Both boys sat through the picture book and because it is repetitive, Monkey ended up “reading” some of the lines with me.

The illustrations of the book were adorable as well. As an animal theme, it went over with my kids and I loved the simplistic, yet detailed pictures.

The message in this book was clear; God is there through every step in your bedtime routine. I highly recommend it to Christian families with kids who are about 5 and under. Princess, our 6 year old, enjoyed reading through it once to the younger two, but it was definitely a little under her usual level of interest. It was easy enough for her to read, though, and it was adorable to hear her little voice telling her brothers about God watching them.

If you’re looking for a sweet, Godly, before bed board book, this one is definitely one to check out!

Parents out there, another Christian kids literature I should get to try out on my kiddos?

  1. Awe, I love books like this. I used to love reading to my son. Now I have to find other people’s children to buy for 🙂 I don’t think my 14 year old would admit to liking this one.

My 13 year old pretends to hate them but I’ll catch her reading them to the littles, which is so sweet!

  2. Such a sweet book. I’m a sucker for children’s books. My son is now almost 13, but I can’t get myself to get rid of all the books we bought as he was growing up!
