As a mom who is home with a four year, two year, and eight week old, I am always looking for fun recipes for dinners, snacks and treats to make with my kids. A lot of the recipes I found, however, just didn’t work with both the 2 and 4 year old….so I decided to start creating them myself!
The one we decided to try this week was frozen chocolate and peanut butter bananas. I’ve made this quite a few times before for just myself and it’s pretty simple. I got the idea to make it with the help of Bug and the boy I nanny after Bug finished off an entire bag of these treats I made for myself. He still runs up and begs me for a “Chocolate Nana” when he sees me open the freezer.
What You Need:
What To Do:
-Slice up the bananas
-Melt down the peanut butter and chocolate. I did it in the microwave this time, however I’ve also done it on the stove previously.
-Dip the slices into peanut butter and chocolate.
-Lay on a sheet tray and freeze for a few hours! (I usually let mine sit overnight.)
-When frozen, feel free to take off the sheet tray and put into plastic baggies.
It is that simple! The kids love it so very much and it’s a relatively healthy snack. We ended up just mashing them up with the little ones and then freezing them like cookies. Both ways are delicious, this just happened to be easier and more fun for my kids.
This is a super messy treat to make, so I recommend using smocks. The most “dangerous” part was using butter knives to cut up the bananas…which the boys thoroughly loved!
If you guys decide to try this snack, let me know! I would love to see how it comes out.
