Happy February! It’s hard to believe the second month of 2017 is almost over, or is that just me?
What have we been up to this month?
Reading: I’ve spent this month reading two more Cathy Glass novels and let me tell you-these are NOT for the faint of heart. Cathy writes about her experiences as a foster mother. She is also a biological and eventually adoptive mother as well, so it’s an extra AWESOME point for us. However…man. Some of these stories are breaking my heart in two. I also read Normal’s Journey by Mark H. Ballard! If you’re a believer, especially a mature one…read this!
Watching: Joshua and I are still desperately trying to catch up with This Is Us. It’s pretty hard for us to get time to watch without the kids around and even convincing Bug to be quiet so we can…so alas still not done! I’ve also recently went on a Tina Fey binge of all the movies on demand and can I just say, stop TF. PLEASE. Her movies were deeper and heart wrenching and no happy endings. (I watched “Whiskey Tango Foxtrot”, “Admission”, and “This Is Where I Leave You.”)
Eating: We have been working very hard at eating healthier all around! That means a few salad bar nights this past week and lots of “oh no not that” for sweets and overly carved meals. I enjoy the changes I’m feeling but I think my kids are getting a little veggie-d out, so we treated them to pizza last night.
Dreaming: I’m still dreaming about my Exploring Neurodiversity series and I can’t wait to introduce it to you in full later this week. I am pumped for it; I truly hope you are too. I’ve also been dreaming a lot about writing more. I miss writing slam and poetry a lot! I’ve been praying over what to do with this passion and I’m hoping I figure it out sooner, rather than later.
Feeling: PROUD. I’ve been sharing s lot about The Small Business Revolution and our city’s battle in the final five for their Main Street Series. The pride I feel in this town and how hard I’ve seen people working, how dedicated people have been to our community, how much LOVE has flown lately…my gosh reminded me why I moved back to this town in the first place. NAMAPride baby! I’m also feeling so pride over my kids. They have done some things so amazingly well lately, behavior has been really good, and outside Bear teething and being a hot mess from that? I say we’re in an awesome season with them.
Listening: We sort of won a basket back in January at a church function and in it was two CDs of praise, hope, and worship! I’ve been listening to those non stop in the car and just loving Jesus on our car rides. I also have been listening to podcasts while in the house cleaning still, and have found I really enjoy Risen Motherhood.
Moving: Oh lanta. My friends. The FitStar exercises?? TALK ABOUT FITNESS BUILDING. I had been doing about four of those a week, though this past week I’ve only managed two due to some discomfort in my knee and then my elbow. On a less happy note, the past month I moved into our living room on a camping mattress. First Bear was sick, now Bear is teething. Sleep has been a little rough but instead of his usual happy self, he’s crying and whining all the time. I’m just trying to remember motherhood is sanctifying and Jesus will get me through the nipple bites and sleepless nights.
Blogging Favorites: A blogging friend, Sarah, shared this with me after I inquired about fasting (more on that in my March goals next week!) and I loved her article on 6 Ways To Hear God’s Voice! It was great advice as we come into seasons of making choices.
What have we been up to this month? Well a whole lot of family time and fun. Josh and I attended our church’s winter dance and Doodle turned 14! I launched my new series “Exploring Neurodiversity and Mental Health“!
Our church put on our first conference, Catalyst, and it was a HIT! It went over so well and everyone seemed to really love it. I helped teach a class on social media and I loved it. It got me all fired up for Facebook and Instagram all over again!
February has been so good to us. What have you been up to lately?
